COS Women’s Soccer Gearing Up for 2025 Season
With a strong mix of veteran returners, key transfers, and talented freshmen, College of the Sequoias Women's Soccer enters the 2025 season with momentum and expectations under Head Coach Brooklyn Morris.
The Giants return several impact players, led by captain and center back Gracie Romero (Mission Oak HS), who anchors the back line with poise and leadership. Alize San Juan (Golden West HS), the reigning Central Valley Conference Midfielder of the Year, returns to control the middle of the field, while Brittany Avalos (Tulare Western HS) and Nevaeh Diaz (Mt. Whitney HS) provide speed and creativity on the wings. Other key returners include Ammerie Calvo (El Diamante HS) with her playmaking ability, Ashley Rodriguez (Porterville HS) bringing a physical attacking presence, and Morgan Escobar (Tulare Western HS) transitioning back to her natural center back role, adding high IQ and vocal leadership to the defense.
Additional returners in the back include goalkeepers Haylie Brasil (Manteca HS) and Madison Lujan (Hanford HS), who provide stability between the posts, along with Ariss Ramirez (Clovis West HS), who adds depth in the midfield.
"We have a strong returning group who know what it takes to compete in this conference," said Morris. "Gracie and Alize set the tone for our team in both how they play and how they lead. This team is incredibly driven."
Transfers add further depth, including Gabby Hempton (Hanford HS) and Mia Newlin-Gonzales (Highland HS)—both wing and defensive options—and Anahí Orosco (Porterville HS), who brings a strong presence to the back line.
"Our new additions have elevated our intensity and pushed the pace in training," Morris added. "They're hungry, and they've integrated well with our returners."
The freshman class also looks to make an immediate impact. Jaya Laird (Hanford HS) and Kaitlin Siebuhr (Golden West HS) add speed and power to the attack, while Addison Dennewitz (Golden West HS) brings vision and creativity in the midfield. Riley Collins (Yreka HS) offers size and strength in the back, with Alyssa Hughes (Hanford West HS) and Angie Torres (Granite Hills HS) providing versatility across the wide and defensive positions. Mia Barahona (Tulare Western HS) adds quickness and composure to the flanks, while Clarissa Diaz (Mt. Whitney HS) strengthens the midfield core with energy and skill.
"We have depth and competition at every position this year, which is exciting as a coach," Morris said. "This group has already shown how much they care about doing things the right way—on and off the field. I'm proud of the direction we're heading."
With a balanced roster full of experience, athleticism, and tactical depth, the Giants are ready to compete in the CVC and beyond this fall.
