Meet Valerie Vargas from COS Volleyball
Year at COS: Sophomore
High School: Exeter
Major at COS: Business Marketing
GPA: 4.0
Valerie is currently a sophomore setter on the COS volleyball team. Valerie led the team in assists last season with 437 and is currently on pace to outperform her assist total by a large margin this year. Valerie carries a 4.0 grade point average at COS and has been nominated to the all-scholar team by the California Community College Athletic Association. Valerie chose COS because she wanted to continue her volleyball career while being able to stay home and watch her younger siblings compete in high school sports. Valerie comes from an athletic family with her two younger siblings competing in sports at Exeter High, her father is a former COS baseball player, and her mother competed in three varsity sports in high school. Valerie wants to continue to play volleyball at the four year level while obtaining her bachelor's degree in business marketing. After college Valerie would love to work in the music industry doing public relations for bands and music acts. A little known fact about Valerie is that she loves the musical group Pearl Jam and listens to Pearl Jam before every game to get herself mentally prepared to play. Valerie was fortunate enough to watch Pearl Jam perform last summer as they were inducted into the rock-n-roll hall of fame. Come watch Valerie and the COS Volleyball team this Friday evening October 27th as the Giants take on Fresno City College at the COS Porter Field House at 6pm.
