College of the Sequoias Competes at Mt. SAC Relays
College of the Sequoias track and field competed against a strong field of California Community Colleges at the Mt. SAC Relays, delivering multiple top finishes, event wins, and personal-best performances. The Giants showed depth across all event groups as they continue building toward the postseason.
Women's Performances
In the sprints, Daoni Hodge Redd (Las Vegas, NV) led the way with a 15th-place finish in the 100 meters (12.75) and placed 12th in the 200 meters with a personal-best 26.97. Allyson Daniel (Sanger HS) and Savanna Leas (Sanger HS) also competed in both sprint events, placing 23rd (13.19) and 26th (13.23) in the 100 meters. Leas and Daniel finished 18th and 19th in the 200 meters, respectively. Ava Rangel (Sanger HS) added a 21st-place finish in the 200 meters and a strong fifth-place finish in the 400 meters with a personal-best 1:01.42.
In the relays, the 4x400-meter team of Abigal Cutshall (Corcoran HS), Katalina Castillo (Corcoran HS), Daniel, and Hodge Redd placed third overall in 4:16.62.
In the hurdles, Aavian Covington (Central HS) led Sequoias with a fourth-place finish in the 100m hurdles, running a personal-best 14.90, while Delilah Ledesma (Mission Oak HS) placed 18th, finishing in 18.87.
In distance events, Gia Ortega (Mission Oak HS) placed fifth in the 800 meters (2:26.32). In the 5000 meters, Lizzet Rodriguez (Porterville HS) finished ninth (20:31.64) and Vanessa Medina (Porterville HS) placed 13th (21:43.26).
In the steeplechase, Jizelle Loza (Redwood HS) placed third with a personal-best 13:13.12, while Trinity Ortega (Mission Oak HS) followed in fifth (13:29.88).
In the jumps, Vivian Moore (Central HS) highlighted the meet with two event wins, taking first in the long jump (5.65m) and first in the triple jump (11.53m). Sadie Carpenter (Immanuel HS) added a second-place finish in the long jump (5.24m) and fifth in the triple jump (10.37m). Brooke Garcia (Sanger HS) placed 14th in the long jump, while Katalina Castillo and Abigal Cutshall placed 10th and 12th in the high jump, respectively.
In the throws, Maya McNeal (Porterville HS) placed ninth (10.43m) in the shot put, followed by Taylor McElree (Redwood HS) in 13th with a personal-best mark of 9.57m and Mallary Gonzalez (Hoover HS) in 15th (9.11m). In the discus, McElree placed 11th, McNeal 19th, and Gonzalez 21st. In the hammer throw, McElree placed seventh, while Gonzalez and McNeal finished 14th and 15th.
Men's Performances
In the sprints, Tevin Howerton (Nevada) led the way with a sixth-place finish in the 100 meters (10.69) and a second-place finish in the 200 meters (21.24). Chase Dexter (Nevada) placed 14th in the 100 meters (10.92) and 15th in the 200 meters (22.05), while Mattis Aguilar (Hawaii) added a 16th-place finish in the 100 meters (10.93, PR). Jo'siah Moon (Nevada) placed 10th in the 200 meters (21.89, PR) and 10th in the 400 meters with a personal-best 49.18.
The relay teams delivered strong performances, with the 4x100-meter relay (Treshawn Rimmer, Dexter, Moon, Howerton) placing second in 41.14. The relay of Jaden Mora (Clovis HS), Aguilar, Reece Poscablo (Hawaii), and O'Bryan Flanigan Jr. (San Francisco) placed seventh. The 4x400-meter relay team of Richard Crakes II (Nevada), Moon, Poscablo, and Jacob Estrada (Monache HS) also placed second in 3:17.19.
In the hurdles, Reece Poscablo led the group with a third-place finish in the 110m hurdles (15.09, PR), followed by Angel Sanchez (Dinuba HS) in fifth (15.32, PR) and Crakes II in seventh (15.63). Poscablo also placed sixth in the 400m hurdles (55.91), while Sanchez added a 20th-place finish.
In distance events, Julian Valdivia (Tulare Western HS) won the 800 meters with a personal-best 1:54.39, while Ryan Herrera (Golden West HS) placed sixth in the 5000 meters (15:59.50). Jacob Estrada and Joel Panduro (Harmony Magnet Academy) contributed in the mid-distance and steeplechase events.
Panduro placed 11th in the 3000m steeplechase (12:22.49, PR).
In the jumps, Mattis Aguilar placed second in the high jump (1.95m), while Tyrik Jackson (Hanford West HS) finished third in the long jump (6.73m). Jackson, John Applewhite (Mt. Whitney HS), Ryan Calo (Monache HS), and Nathan Herrera (Tulare Western HS) all contributed in the triple jump.
In the throws, Ruben Rubio-Carbajal (Nevada) led the way with an eighth-place finish in the discus (44.45m, PR) and added a 12th-place finish in the shot put (13.43m).

College of the Sequoias will continue its season this week with competition at the Bryan Clay Invite at Azusa Pacific University and the Gary Shaw Last Chance Meet at Hartnell College.
