College of the Sequoias Competes at Northern California Regional Multi Championships
College of the Sequoias track and field competed at the Northern California Regional Multi Championships, showcasing strong efforts in the decathlon and heptathlon. The Giants were represented by a group of multi-event athletes who delivered several top finishes across the two-day competition.
Women's Performances
Katalina Castillo (Corcoran HS) led the COS women in the heptathlon, finishing ninth overall with 3,690 points. Castillo recorded multiple top-five finishes, including fourth in the 200 meters (26.43) and fourth in the long jump (4.94m). She also added a third-place finish in the 800 meters (2:30.63), closing the competition strong.
Abigal Cutshall (Corcoran HS) placed 16th overall with 3,076 points. She highlighted her performance with a fourth-place finish in the high jump (1.49m) and added solid efforts in the 200 meters (28.63) and 800 meters (2:48.32).
Men's Performances
Richard Crakes led the Sequoias men with a fourth-place finish in the decathlon, totaling 5,738 points. Crakes posted several top-three finishes, placing second in the 400 meters (50.30), 110m hurdles (15.58), and 1500 meters (4:33.20), while also taking third in the 100 meters (11.49). He added a fifth-place finish in the discus (30.51m) and was seventh in the long jump (6.17m).
Santino Ruiz (Mt. Whitney HS) finished 12th overall with 4,661 points, highlighted by a sixth-place finish in the 400 meters (53.22) and multiple top-10 marks, including ninth in the 100 meters and high jump.
Justin Gerking (Lemoore HS) placed 15th overall with 4,204 points. He contributed across all events, with his top finish coming in the 400 meters (13th, 57.02) and added mid-pack finishes in throws and jumps.
Next Up on the Track
College of the Sequoias will continue its season this week with multiple opportunities to improve marks ahead of postseason competition. The Giants will compete on Saturday, April 11 at the Mt. SAC Relays, hosted by Mt. San Antonio College.
