VISALIA, Calif. – The College of the Sequoias men's soccer team closed out its 2025 season on Friday afternoon, falling 4–1 to Fresno City College at Sequoias Stadium on a day that honored both the program's sophomores and Fresno City's longtime head coach Eric Solberg, who was recognized pregame as he coached in his final regular-season match.
The Giants (3-11-7, 1-6-3 Central Valley Conference) entered the match looking to finish the year on a strong note, but Fresno capitalized early to take control of the first half, building a 2–0 advantage. Sequoias worked to settle in defensively as the opening period progressed but went into the break trailing by two.
COS showed more urgency to start the second half, pushing numbers forward and generating brighter moments in the attacking third. The Giants were rewarded in the 62nd minute when Gabriel De La Fuente (Lindsay HS) finished a well-played ball from Ivan Camargo (Lindsay HS) to cut the deficit to 3–1 and bring the home crowd to life on Sophomore Day.
Despite the surge, Fresno added one more goal in the 68th minute, and the Giants were unable to close the gap in the final stretch.
"We wanted to send our sophomores out with a strong performance, and I thought our effort in the second half reflected that," said Head Coach Abraham Campos. "This group continued to fight all season, and I'm proud of the growth our players showed on and off the field."
