Balanced Effort Leads No. 2 COS Women's Basketball to 82-46 Win Over Cuesta
VISALIA, Calif. — The No. 2 state-ranked College of the Sequoias women's basketball team competed to an 82-46 win over visiting Cuesta College. COS improved to 3-3 with the victory, using depth, defensive pressure, and offensive execution.
Freshman Kalysa Phanhsavang (McNair HS) paced the Giants with 13 points, while Nyla Anderson (Texas) added 12 points and six assists, going a perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line. COS shared the ball with efficiency, racking up 23 assists on 33 made baskets and shooting 54.1% from the field.
"I loved the way we competed and defended," said Head Coach Tyler Newton. "We preach unselfish play, and this team continues to improve and buy in."
The Giants got off to a strong start by using their depth and defensive intensity to set the tone. COS forced 27 turnovers, including 16 steals, and scored 31 points off takeaways. The Giants led 31-18 at the break and extended the margin throughout the second half with contributions from the entire roster.

Upcoming Game
The Giants will return to action on Monday, December 1, when they host Sacramento City College at 6:00 p.m. inside Porter Field House. This will be a game the precedes the 48th Gilcrest Invitational, which will be held at College of the Sequoias from December 4-6.
