No. 7 Sequoias Travel to No. 2 Foothill in NorCal Quarterfinals
VISALIA, Calif. – The College of the Sequoias men's tennis team will open postseason play on Tuesday as the No. 7 seed in the 3C2A Northern California Regional Team Championships, traveling to face No. 2 seed Foothill College. First serve is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
The Giants enter the playoffs with a 10-4 overall record and a 6-2 mark in Central Valley Conference play, finishing second in the CVC standings. COS has shown steady improvement throughout the season.
Foothill enters as the No. 2 seed after posting a 6-3 overall record and a 4-2 finish in Coast Conference play, also placing second in their conference. The Owls have been one of the top teams in Northern California and present a strong challenge in the opening round.
"Our coaches are proud of how our team has competed all season," said head coach Martin Herrera. "Finishing second in our conference and earning a playoff spot is a great accomplishment. Now it's about going on the road, staying focused on our game plans, and competing for every point."
"We've emphasized the importance of doubles and staying disciplined in singles," Herrera said. "If we can execute and stay composed, we'll give ourselves a chance."
With a win, COS would advance to the Northern California Regional Semifinals and continue its postseason run.
Postseason Outlook
The Northern California Regional Tournament continues with semifinal and final rounds determining who advances to the state championships. Following team competition, qualified individuals will compete at the 3C2A State Championships in Ojai beginning April 23.
