No. 3 COS Women's Tennis Set to Open Postseason Against No. 6 San Francisco in NorCal Quarterfinals
VISALIA, Calif. – The College of the Sequoias women's tennis team will open postseason play on Tuesday as the No. 3 seed in the 3C2A Northern California Regional Team Quarterfinals, hosting No. 6 seed City College of San Francisco at the COS Tennis Courts.
First serve is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. The Giants enter the playoffs as Central Valley Conference Co-Champions, finishing the regular season with a 10-2 overall record and a 7-1 mark in conference play. COS has been consistent throughout the season, using strong doubles play and depth in singles to separate from conference opponents.
San Francisco enters as the No. 6 seed with a 10-1 overall record and a perfect 9-0 record in Coast Conference play, setting up a strong first-round matchup between two conference champions.
"Our coaches are proud of what this group has accomplished so far," said head coach Martin Herrera. "Winning our conference was a big step, but now it's about staying focused on our game plans and competing for every point in the postseason."
COS has relied on a balanced lineup throughout the year, with multiple players contributing across both singles and doubles. The Giants' ability to secure the doubles point has been a key factor in their success.
"We've emphasized doubles all season," Herrera said. "If we can come out strong and execute early, it gives us momentum heading into singles."
With a win, the Giants would advance to the Northern California Regional Semifinals and move one step closer to a berth in the 3C2A State Team Championships.
Postseason Outlook
The Northern California Regional Tournament continues over the next two weeks, with semifinal and final rounds determining who advances to the state championship. Following team competition, qualified individuals will compete at the 3C2A Individual State Championships in Ojai beginning April 23.
