After leading at halftime 32-31, the fourth-ranked College of the Sequoias women's basketball team fell to the eighth-ranked Merced Lady Blue Devils, 66-63.
Despite only having seven players available, compared to Sequoias' 12, Merced had three of their starters score in double-figures.
Trinity Washington had a game-high 22 points, Shea Glasglow-Williams chipped in 15 points, and Champelle Kelly contributed 12 points for the Lady Blue Devils.
Another big factor in Merced's win was their ability to get to the free-throw line. The hosts shot 27 total free-throws knocking down 16, while COS was 6-of-10 at the line.
Sequoias point guard Hailey Scott scored a team-high 11 points in the loss.
The Giants return to Porter Field House on Saturday, hosting fourth-placed Reedley in Central Valley Conference play. Tip-off between the two teams is scheduled for 3 p.m.
