COS Results From Sun Angel Classic in Tempe
COS Track and Field Results from Arizona:
It was a history-breaking day for the Sequoias' Track and Field team at the 37th Annual Sun Angel Classic hosted by Arizona State
The COS men's 4x100 relay team ran a 39.49 to own the fastest Junior College time in the nation for the event. However, the Giants finished fourth place in heat as they were beaten by Texas A&M (39.02) as well as two professional teams, ALTIS A (38.40) and ALTIS B (38.95). This was an open meet with professionally sponsored teams and four-year universities competing.
Two members of the relay team also competed in the 200m Dash. Theon Lewis came in 9th overall (21.59) and Keefer Joyce placed 20th overall (22.00) in a very competitive field.
In the 400m hurdles, Sophomore Chris Green ran a 53.74. Green's time beat student-athletes from Notre Dame, Boise State, and Kansas.
COS performed well against four-year universities in the Field events. Bryce Huggins placed 10th in the Long Jump with a distance of 6.90m. Huggins jump beat competitors from BYU, UC Riverside, as well as Minnesota.
COS thrower Shaquil Singuineau, came in 10th in the Shot Put as he threw for a distance of 15.75m.
The Sequoias Women also had a great outing in Tempe, Arizona.
In the 100m hurdles Deshaunda Morrison finished first in her heat and seventh overall with a time of 13.53. Morrison is the favorite to win the state championship in the 100 hurdles on the women's side this year.
The Lady Giants had two athletes competing in the 100m dash. KiAnna Cunningham placed second with a 12.09. Joylynn Daily finished first in heat one which was good for fourth overall at 12.02.
Daily also raced in the 200m dash, doing well in first in her heat at 24.90.
Cunningham and Morrison competed in the Long Jump as well. Cunningham jumped to sixth place (5.96m) and Morrison 10th (5.83m). The ladies beat athletes from Arizona State, UTEP, and Oregon State.
Next up for the Giants is the Mt. SAC Relays April 14-16.
