College of the Sequoias Dives Into Postseason with Five State Qualifiers
SANTA ROSA, Calif. – College of the Sequoias divers took to the boards for the 2025 NorCal Diving Championships on April 12, competing against the region's best for a spot at the State Championships. With the top 8 finishers in each event earning a berth to the California Community College Athletic Association (3C2A) State Championships, which are scheduled for May 1–3 at Santa Rosa Junior College.
COS rose to the challenge, with five divers earning top-8 finishes and officially advancing to the state meet, highlighting a successful day on the boards for the Giants.
Women's Highlights
In the 1-meter championship, Reannon Herrera (Porterville HS) placed 6th overall with a score of 169.10, while Lauren Pelayo (El Diamante HS) finished 20th (122.40) in a deep field of 28 divers.
On the 3-meter board, Herrera continued her consistency with another 6th-place finish (182.75). Pelayo added a 17th-place showing (129.95) as both divers gained valuable experience at the championship level.
Men's Highlights
The COS men delivered a GIANT showing across both boards. In the 1-meter championship, Liam Henshaw (Golden West HS) led the way with a 2nd-place finish (209.50). He was followed by Guy Woodard (Golden West HS) in 3rd (180.45), Jackson Coon (Redwood HS) in 7th (164.25), and Ethan Solimon (Redwood HS) in 8th (154.90) — giving the Giants four of the top eight state-qualifying spots.
In the 3-meter event, Coon took 2nd place (215.75), followed by Henshaw in 3rd (206.00). Woodard placed 8th (157.05) and Solimon rounded out at 14th (100.90).
Upcoming Meet
College of the Sequoias will now shift their focus to the Central Valley Conference (CVC) Championships this week, from April 17–20, which will be hosted by Clovis College. This will give the Giants another chance to close out the season with team titles and individual state qualifiers.
