Five Giants Earn All-State and All-Northern Honors
VISALIA, Calif. – College of the Sequoias softball continues to shine, with five players earning All-State postseason honors from the California Community College Fastpitch Coaches Association (3CFCA). Four Giants—Grace Chojnacki, Nayzeth Gonzalez, Taylor Hastin, and Emilee Santos—were named to the North All-State Team, while third baseman Shelby Somavia secured a spot on the All-Northern Team.
North All-State Team Selections

Grace Chojnacki (Mission Oak HS): A dual threat, Chojnacki posted a 6-0 record with a 1.43 ERA and ranked 13th in the state in shutouts. Offensively, she led the Central Valley Conference (CVC) with a .511 batting average.

Nayzeth Gonzalez (Hanford HS): An on-base machine, Gonzalez ranked fourth in the state in walks and maintained a .414 batting average and a .535 on-base percentage, which contributed to the Giants' offense.

Taylor Hastin (Tulare Union HS): Another dual threat, on the mound and at the plate, Hastin ranked seventh in the state in home runs (8), fifth in RBIs (46), 13th in both ERA (1.62) and wins (16), 16th in complete games (, and 17th in strikeouts (117).

Emilee Santos (Corcoran HS): The CVC Player of the Year, Santos batted .510 and was among the conference leaders with a .431 on-base percentage and 10 stolen bases, demonstrating her versatility.

Shelby Somavia (Redwood HS): A consistent performer, Somavia hit .368 during conference play and ranked 17th in the state in doubles (14), providing stability and production at third base.
These accolades reflect a season of hard work and achievement. As the team prepares for the upcoming postseason, these honors serve as a recognition for their hard work and success.
College of the Sequoias softball earned the No. 3 seed in the 3C2A Northern California Regional Playoffs and will host No.14 Monterey Peninsula in a best-of-three opening round series. The Giants begin postseason play on Friday, May 2 at 2 p.m., with Game 2 set for Saturday at noon and a third game, if necessary, following at 2 p.m. Monterey Peninsula enters the series after finishing fifth in the Coast Conference with a 17-17 overall record. This marks the second consecutive season COS will host regional playoff action.
