Cross Country Toro Park Results
The Giants traveled up north this past Friday to compete at the Toro Park Invitational in Salinas, California. With a majority of the NorCal teams participating in this event, it gave the Giants a great insight of where they currently stand against their competition with the NorCal Championships only a month away.
The lady Giants faired very well against the competition this weekend taking 2nd place as a team to Hartnell putting them in a respectable position going into the NorCal Championships. Leading the 3 mile race for the Sequoias was Jojo Zorn who clocked in a time of 19:42 for 7th place. Sarah Reid had a strong performance this weekend coming in second for the team and a season personal best by 16 seconds for 14th overall with a time of 20:34. Ariana Jasso finished in 23rd with a time of 21:03 and Adeline Blair only a few steps behind her for 24th in a 21:06. Kelsay McClendon secured the teams second place finish coming in at 21:33 for 35th place.
The men had a strong showing as well, taking 3rd place in the team results behind American River and Hartnell. Adam Gonzalez lead the Sequoias again this week finishing the 4 mile course in 21:11 for 9th place. Rogelio Luviano was the Giants second finisher, coming in 34th with a 22:17. Rounding out the top 5 scoring squad for the Sequoias were Abran Ayon (22:36, 42nd) Tyler Dalton (23:05, 53rd) and Arturo Ochoa (23:08, 56th).
The Giants are prepping to head down south this week for the Mt. Sac Invitational in Walnut, California where they will encounter some State competition Friday, October 16th.
